Hector Cuper contract as the Pharaohs head coach will not be renewed, Egyptian Football Association (EFA) announced Tuesday.
EFA will give further details on the same today at a presser where the future will also be revealed.
The decision follows a dismal outing in the ongoing Russia World Cup where Egypt lost all their group matches to Uruguay, Russia and Saudi Arabia.
Argentine Cuper took charge of the most successful African national team in 2015 and managed to return them to the AFCON and World Cup finals.
Despite reaching the final of the 2017 AFCON in Gabon and qualifying the Pharaohs to the Mundial after 28 years, Cuper’s style of the game left fans in doubt.
Under his watch, the former Georgia manager morphed the once dreaded attacking machine into a more defensive outfit – earning him condemnation from a section of fans.
Cuper’s contract negotiations were to conclude before heading to Russia but this was delayed and will now not take place according to EFA.
In 38 matches, he managed 20 wins, 12 loses and 6 draws with the team scoring 53 goals while conceding 31.
