Gor Mahia management through Assistant Secretary General Ronald Ngala has vehemently refuted claims that they fired head Coach Frank Nuttall, saying they only failed to agree on a new contract with the Scotsman.
In a letter sent to news rooms yesterday, the reigning Kenyan Premier League Coach of the year, stated that the club had terminated his services.
“The Executive Committee of Gor Mahia has terminated my contract today, 4th February 2016 via a letter to my lawyer, Mr. Gradus Oluoch and Co. Advocates.” The letter read partly.
Ngala speaking to Soka25east.com this afternoon, said they are still waiting to hear from the Nuttall’s lawyer after they made it known to him, through a letter that they couldn’t meet the new demands for a new contract.
“We could not afford what they proposed, and we made it clear to him, through his lawyer. What we expected is the lawyer to get back to us with a new proposal, so that we see if we can get to a common ground,”
“Choosing to go to the media to seek sympathy is not what we expected. He chose to talk to us through a lawyer, which is not a bad thing, but that’s not how we have been engaging. We will wait to hear from,”
Ngala has however not ruled out, shopping for a new tactician if they don’t get away forward in regards to the matter.
“The club cannot be held at ransom, if we don’t agree then we will look for his replacement.” Ngala concluded.
The club estimates that the new contract proposal by Nuttall will cost them to the tune of about Kshs 40M per year, which is more than a half of what they will receive per annum from their new sponsor, Sportpesa, this they deem too expensive.
