Mamelodi Sundowns coach Manqoba Mngqithi says the team must move on from their disappointing 1-1 draw with Black Leopards in Sunday’s DSTV Premiership match.
This was the seventh draw that Masandawana have played in the League this season.
After eighteen games the Brazilians are four-points above second place Golden Arrows and have not lost a game in the league.
Mosa Lebusa opened up the scoring in the tenth minute when he met a Lyle Lakay corner to open his league tally for the 2020/21 season. The visitors equalised late on with a backheel by Roderick Kabwe that beat Denis Onyango in goal.
“Today we had a lethargic game that got us worried from the start of the game, but fortunately we got a goal from Musa. We got chances from breaks and I feel we should have capitalised but we did not take those chances. Even at half-time, we had a big fight because we seemed like a team that thinks we have already won the match. I am never at ease with a one-nil lead more especially against a side that plays counter-attacking football. I have said it during the week that throughout the world, it is very possible for a team in the bottom to take points from a side on top.” said Coach Manqoba Mngqithi
Masandawana went into the game on the back of an impressive winning streak that stretched all the way back to when they travelled away to face Lidoda Duvha in January.
“I must say that the intensity of the game was not what we are used to. Maybe we have played many games. It is very unfortunate for us not to win the game. To be honest, as much as they got a point, they never made any threat in our box. We have to take this on the chin and move on.”
The next game for Mamelodi Sundowns after the International break is a CAF Champions League clash away to Al Hilal on the 2nd of April followed up by a game against TTM in the DStv Premiership. The last time the two sides played in the league the game ended in a draw.
