AGROCHEMICALS 0-1 WEST SUGAR
Western-based West Sugar romped into the semis of the GOtv Shield with a narrow victory over Agrochemicals at the City Stadium.Nelson Simwa headed in the all-important goal on two minutes, rising unattended to power in after beating a disjointed Agro offside trap from a well-worked short corner.Ezekiel Akwana’s men defended resolutely for 88 minutes to book a semi final date with Posta Rangers.
RANGERS 1-0 BANDARI
Kenyan Premier league side Bandari, fresh from their midweek heroic perfomance against Gor Mahia in the TPL,found the going tough against low tier side Rangers. The mailmen, parading an armada of experienced former internationals, took the lead courtesy of Joseph Nyaga on thirty eight minutes.
Fred Ojwang had a neat touch and go with Moses Odhiambo before the latter fed Nyaga with a fine cross to open the score. Two minutes later Dennis Mukaisi should have doubled the advantage but for some inspired goalkeeping by Wilson Obungu, foiling the striker with an outstretched right foot.
Nyaga,a handfull all afternoon, lobbed wide on sixty five minutes with the Bandari goal yawning at him after a rare Obungu misjudgement. The dockers thought they had a legitimate penalty shout when substitute Salim Kenga went down in the area only to be booked for simulation.
Rangers now face West Sugar in the first semi,an interesting battle of teams handled by tacticians from the same hood.Ezekiel Akwana and George Maina come from Huruma,an area reknowned for producing top talent over the years.
