Ahead of Cameron confrontation against Ghana in the 2019 U-23 Africa Cup of Nations, AFCON, in Egypt, Cameroon’s coach says, their ambitions is to continue what they have started. Rigobert Song made the statement during a pre-match press conference in Egypt.
“Being here is a great chance for us but what we care about is to continue what we already started. Every team here has decent chance because they are all very strong sides. Football is about challenges,” Song said.
He added that, “Facing my former coach is also a big challenge for me and I want to prove I’m up to it. We didn’t have enough preparations but we will try and give our best.”
Ghana and Cameroon, both debutants will square off in Group A at the Cairo International Stadium this Friday November 8. On Monday, Cameroon will face Mali before hosting Egypt in the last group fixture three days later.
The game will see two coaches, Rigobert Song and Ibrahim Tanko who had worked together in Cameroon clash against each other.
The tournament kicks off today November 8 and will end on November 22. At the end of the first round, teams will secured their semi-final tickets while three best teams in the completion will represent Africa during the 2020 Olympic Games.
