The curtain falls as the National Super League comes to an end today with matches being played at different venues
A season that has been very tough with former KPL giants Ushuru and KCB joining the league and retaining most players
The second tier has always been described as the most difficult and competitive league .True to this fact ,the log expressly describes this as three of the teams are all chasing for the title on the penultimate day .
Four NSL clubs joined the top tier league and did not disappoint .Nzoia Sugar, Zoo Kericho,Kariobangi Sharks and Nakumatt have all surved the axe.The four teams surprisingly withered the KPL storm with Sharks hitting the top three .
Western Stima’s eight year stay at the top flight cams to and end and will have to prove if they can make a comeback.It is not however automatic .
KCB went down ,retained its players but surprisingly missed to make a comeback just like Nairobi City stars .Muhoroni Youth’s shock demotion was described as cruel .
Back to the NSL and you find three teams in the race for promotion and title .Any of the three teams can be declared champions today .

Vihiga County Government sponsored Vihiga United have a date with destiny .At their backyard though practically some kilometres away needs victory to be crowned
champions and get their maiden qualification to the top tier league .All eyes will be on Geoffrey Airo,Patrick Okullo and experienced Charles Okwemba .The pressure is on Vihiga who mussed on promotion last season .According to Sultan Vincent ,their is no relenting and he says Vihiga needs the victory more .
Ken Kenyatta has been there in KPL and knows the sweetness of promotion .Ushuru was set for the promotion and title and virtually won all their last six matches but surprisingly was slowed down by Migori based side Isebania who beat them in Awendo setting the pace for real battle .Vihiga on 77 points (+39) can win the title if they beat Ushuru on 78(+39).Surprisingly University of Nairobi side Wazito could wrap up this if the big boys draw and Police fall at the hands of the students .

Another big match where the title could be decided .University of Nairobi side Wazito just needs to win against Police who are out of contention and pray the match between Vihiga and Ushuru ends in a draw .Wazito on 77points same as Vihiga but inferior goal difference could move to 80pts meaning a draw in Mumias will have the Frank Ouna led side join the KPL.for the first time .
As the league concludes ,we appreciate the level of football at the NSL and special mention to Isebania FC .This team has had ni sponsors and managed to register an impressive outing considering the difficulties they have been .They won the Nationwide league and no one gave them the chance
They are however calling for sponsors in the next season and promise to join Sony Sugar in the tip flight in 2019.
It is however sad that one of the most run football Palos withdrew from the league citing financial constrain .This gas shocked the residents of Kisumu who will now have no team playing in both the KPL and NSL.
