Yusuf Manji the current chairman of Yanga
The confusion on whether the elections for Dar es salaam football club giants and defending Vodacom league champions Yanga continued as the government said the elections will not take place.
Acting Secretary general of the Council of Sports(BMT) Tanzania Mr Mohammed Kiganja said the government does not support what is taking place at the club as its against the Constitution.
Kiganja together with former head of elections at TFF Alloyce Komba were accused by current Yanga chairman Yusuf Manji of interfering with the elections preparations. Yusuf Manji through his communications Director Jerry Muro have reported to the ethics department accusing the two.
Alloyce Komba who was since been appointed the head of appeals and Discipline has said has never been involved in the Yanga elections war.
On their part, TFF has welcomed the government’s directive. TFF president Jamal Malinzi, his Secretary Selestine Mwesigwa and executive member Eliud Mvela met Yanga top supremo led by Vice chairman Clement Sanga and Secretary Baraka Deusdedit and extensively discussed about the Yanga elections. It was agreed that the elections be all inclusive and abide by the 2010 constitution as directed by the government.
The elections have been marred by push and pull from different camps with different dates being set with Yanga insisting on June 11th and TFF insisting on June 25th.
This unfolding are happening just barely a week before the Jangwani based side takes on TP Mazembe of Congo in the CAF champions League match at the National Stadium in Dar es salaam.
