Young African(Yanga) improved their chances of clinching the coveted Vodacom Tanzania Premier League after a classy 3-1 win over Mbeya City over the weekend opening up a 4 point gap against Azam at the top of the table .
It was the fifth consecutive win for Yanga who have been in red hot form having lost their last match in March 1-0 against their bitter rivals Simba in Dar Es Salaam.
Yanga started the game like a house on fire continuing from where they left after drubbing Coastal Union 8-0 in midweek as Liberian import Sherman broke the deadlock in the 18th minute with a beautiful goal after a sleek pass by Amisi Tambe to put his side firmly on course for the Premier league title..
The goal spurred on Yanga who continue to fire from all cylinders as Salum Telela scored the second in the 37th minute with a ferocious shot that beat keeper Hanington Kalyesubula all the way. However the goal did not dumpen the spirit of the Mbeya players who fought gallantly getting an equalizer just two minutes later from a Raphael Alpha sublime pass.
The game went into the break with Yanga firmly in the lead and upon resumption in the second half they continued from where they left after captain Nadir Haroub popularly known as Canavaro netted the third goal from a sweet header from a beautiful Haruna Niyonzima pass .
Mbeya City suffered an obstacle in the 53rd minute when referee Mathew Akrama red carded Felix for a vicious tackle on Telela reducing the struggling team which is playing in its second season in the top tier league to 10 men.
