FT AZAM 0-0 YANGA SC (PEN, 5-3)
Favorites Yanga SC was this evening eliminated at the quarter final stage of CECAFA Kagame Cup by local rivals Azam FC.
The hotly contested fixture played on Wednesday July 29,2015 at the National Stadium in Dar ended in a barren draw at full time and proceeded to dreaded penalty shout outs immediately.
Azam converted all their five spot kicks with Kipre Tche Tche, John Bocco, Hamid Mao, Pascal Wawa and Aggrey Morris all finding the back of the net. Man of the match Aishi Salum Manula saved Haji Mwinyi’s penalty to become the hero of the ice cream makers of Chamazi.
Salum Telela, Nadir Haroub and Godfrey Mwashiuya scored for Yanga.
Earlier in the match, Azam looked the much stronger side creating clear scoring chances which they failed to convert, Ivory Coast international Kipre Tche Tche twice came close to scoring in the first and second halves of the match but his efforts were just inches off the mark. Yanga had the better ball possession but could not do much with it, Zimbabwean Donald Ngoma was guilty of being wasteful in most occasions.
Azam will meet KCCA of Uganda in the semi final on Friday.
