The Yanga fans at the lake side city of Mwanza will be a disappointed lot after the Confederations of African Football (CAF) stated that the match can’t be played at the CCM Kirunba stadium

Earlier in the week, a source close to Yanga insinuated that their was a likelihood of Yanga’s Confederations cup match against Medeama of Ghana being played at the 35,000 capacity CCM Kirumba in Mwanza.

Yanga have a lot of fans in the lakeside city of Mwanza and wanted to treat their fans by bringing such a big match

Speaking to CAF head of media Junior Binyam, the possibility of Yanga playing in Mwanza is nil as the said facility is not listed as one of the homologated stadium. Only the National stadium in Dar is listed

Earlier before the tournaments started CAF did an inspection of the various stadium and had the following directive

Please note that all the matches of CAF inter clubs must be played in a stadium homologated by CAF.

“In the event that you wish you play your matches in another stadium that is not on the list, please inform us in order to organize an inspection visit and check if the said stadium can be homologated for CAF matches.

“Hence, if that’s the case, we kindly ask you to inform us before January 10th, 2016 in order to allow us to take the necessary measures in this regard.”

By so, the 35,000 CCM kirumba can’t host this week’s clash between Yanga and Medeama.
