Dar es Salaam giants Young Africans have set a foot into the group stages of the CAF Confederations cup after beating visiting Angolan side Sagrada Esperanca 2-0 at the National stadium in Dar es Salaam.
Simon Happygpod Msuva and subsitute Matheo Antony Simon both scored in the last quarter of thr match to help the jangwani outfit to a comfortable 2-0 win heading into the second leg next week with a draw needed to sail to the group stage.
In the match well handled by Ghanaian referee Joseph Lampley and his assistants Alidu Salifu together with David Laryeh, the hosts missed a series of chances and could have sealed it at first half but Burundian Amiss Tambwe was a victim of several missed chances.
The first half ended goalless and on resumption, the hosts who were evidently missing the services of Zimbabwean duo of Donald Ngoma and Thabani Kamusoko failed to execute their chances.
The second half started on a low but it was the host who were hungry for the goals and also preventing an away goal from the visitors.
Yanga’s resilience paid off in the 72nd minute when Simon Msuva finished off a Godfrey Mwashiuya cross before substitute Matheo Antony sealed it in the 90th minute after a well taken long range effort.
