Zamalek SC coach Momen Soliman has pledged to resign if he fails to clinch CAF champions league title.

The Egyptians, gunning for a first title in the competition since 2002, head down South Africa for the first leg of the two legged final to face hosts Mamelodi Sundowns, Saturday October 15, at Lucas Moripe Stadium, Pretoria.

The second leg, takes place a week later on Sunday, October 23, at Borg el Arab Stadium, Alexandria, Egypt, with the aggregate winner being crowned the champions league.

“If we lose I’ll resign via phone call and I will not go to the club for the training sessions so that I don’t embarrass anyone if this happens,” Soliman who took over the hot seat from sacked Mohamed Helmy in July told Kingfut.com.

“We can’t get anything wrong in the coming period; in training, sleeping, or nutrition. Everything must be done at a high level,” he added.

Soliman, however, opines the title chances for both teams are equal, “Sundowns is a big, strong team just like Zamalek, and winning the title is possible for either team.”

On the road to the final, Zamalek also known as the White Knights squeezed past fellow North Africans Wydad Casablanca of Morocco on away goal’s rule, after a close 6-5 aggregate score in the semis.

Sundowns referred to as “Masandawana” or the “Brazillians” – chasing a first ever continental glory on the other hand, beat Zesco United of Zambia 3-2 cumulatively.
