Egypt’s Zamalek have dropped to second place lost 2-1 to Al Masry in t matchday 25 of the Egyptian Premier League.
Zamalek were in dire need of a win to return on top of the league table especially after Al Ahly overcame them following their 2-1 win over Misr El-Makassa.
Al Masry took 41 minutes to open the scoring thanks to Islam Abouslema. Then in the 57th minute Nigerian forward Austin Amutu doubled the scoring to make it even harder for the Whites to come back.
Finally in the 91st minute Zamalek’s Mahmoud Alaa managed to score their only goal of the game from the penalty spot. Becoming the league’s second top goalscorer with 13 goals, two behind Arab Contractors’ Ahmed Ali.
Zamalek are currently second on the Egyptian Premier League table with 57 points, just one behind league leaders Al Ahly.
Their next game will be in the CAF Confederations Cup quarterfinals against Morocco’s Hussania Agadir on April 14. They managed to grab a goalless draw in the first leg the took place in Morocco.
