Army side Green Buffaloes have booked their place in the prestigious Barclays Cup semi-finals after beating Power Dynamos 5- 3 via spot kicks in the second quarterfinal match played at Nkoloma Stadium today.
Meanwhile in the first quarterfinal played at the same venue, Police outfit Nkwazi Football club defeated legendary cup fighters Mufulira Wanderers also via a 4-3 penalty shootout. Both games ended goalless after 90 minutes and were thrown into the lottery of spot kicks.
Steven Kapamba scored the winning penalty for Buffaloes while Power failed to convert their spot much to the disappointment of their taker Derrick Mwansa.
Nkwazi on the other hand ensured that both teams from Lusaka progressed to the last four thanks to clinical conversions by Emmanuel Kasonde, Chipungu Musukuma, Rodrick Zimba and Wilbroad Mutale.
Wanderers were poor from their spot-kicks, Jacob Ngulube and Taonga Bwembya failing to score but Allan Kamwanga, Chisopa Malama and Mike Katiba put theirs away.
Buffaloes will face the winners of the fourth quarterfinal between Zesco United and Kabwe Warriors while Nkwazi await winners of the third quarterfinal between surprise package Lumwana Radiants and Zanaco. Both of the remaining quarterfinal games will be played tomorrow at Nkoloma stadium.
