Power Dynamos insist that coach Tennant Chilumba will stay on as their trainer for the 2016 Faz Super League season.
Chilumba’s future at the six-time Zambian champions has been a doubt after two successive seasons without any silverware despite two top-three finishes for the Kitwe-based club.
“Yes he is staying. He has a contract until end of 2016,” Power club secretary Ricky Mamfunda said.
“We will give him another opportunity to redeem himself.”
Power handed Chilumba a two-and-half year deal in June, 2015 following the expiry of his initial one-year contract signed in June, 2013 when he took over following the dismissal of Beston Chambeshi.
Chilumba steered Power from near-relegation in his first season at the helm in 2013 when the Kitwe club was staring the prospect of relegation for the first-time-ever before guiding them to an eighth-place finish.
However, silverware has yet to come for Chilumba at Power despite two top-three finishes.
Power finished second behind champions Zesco United in 2014 but dropped a notch in 2015 to end the campaign in third position when Zanaco beat them to the runners-up spot.
One of his biggest highlights came this past August when he broke his five-match winless drought in the Kitwe derby against Nkana with a 2-1 home win over their arch-rivals.
