Zesco United maintained their top spot in the MTN FAZ League with a comfortable 5-3 victory over rivals Nkana at the Levi Mwanawasa Stadium in Ndola.The win however derailed Nkana’s quest to beat the Ndola based side for the first time since they joined the first tier.Zesco are still perched at the top with 46 points,4 clear of second placed Power Dynamos.
Elsewhere,Power Dynamos beat Nakambala Leopards 2-0 today in a ZSL Week 20 match played at Arthur Davies Stadium.
A first half goal from Martin Phiri off a rebound from a freekick and a second half header by Emmanuel Chimpinde gave Power an easy 2-0 win against a Nakambala side whose only real Highlight was Goalkeeper Moses Mapulanga’s heroics earning him a man of the match award with the lowpoints being Leopards only having one shot on target while winger Floyd Phiri was sent off for foul play in the second half.
The win takes Power in second place on 42 points four points behind Zesco United while Nakambala Leopards stay second from bottom on 14 points
In other matches played across various venues in Zambia,Lusaka Dynamos beat Nchanga Rangers 2-0.With the win Dynamos leapfrog Nkana to the 9th position with 27 points while Nchanga remains at 12th position on 19 points.
Forest Rangers failed to join the top 10 bracket with a 0-1 home loss to basement club NAPSA Stars who move to 19 points but still locked at the 14th position.
Nkwazi FC who have been impressive so far this season humiliated Konkola Blades 4-1 but maintained the fourth position with 33 points.
National Assembly lost 0-1 to Red Arrows while troubled Mufulira Wanderers lost 2-1 to Green Eagles.
