Zambian Footballer Aaron Katebe is stuck in india as the country continues to enforce a lockdown to battle the coronavirus pandemic.
Katebe who plays for Indian club Real Kashmir says he is missing home and is stuck in quarantine together with his teammates from Ivory Coast, Nigeria and the United Kingdom in the team hotel.
The defender tells the BBC via Newsday that all his teammates at the club have shown him love during this period.
“We are always together, we have lunch together, having dinner together and talking stories. We are always together, we are also like a family,” Katebe said.
And club owner Sandeep Chattoo says the club is doing their best to help Katebe and his teammates get back home during the pandemic.
“As of now these guys can’t go anywhere because the lockdown has been enforced the way it should be. So at the moment it’s restricted. Domestic flights are cancelled and also the International flights. So at the moment they can’t go anywhere,” Chattoo told the BBC via Newsday.
“I stayed back with them here (at the team hotel) because I didn’t want to leave them alone when the lock down started.”
“I am trying my best, I have asked all the African based players to get in touch with their embassies but I am not able to make a headway through in trying to help them out in any way because it all depends on their respective embassies and what they do to pull them out.
“As the owner of the club I want to make sure that the players are absolutely comfortable and safe in the hotel,” he added.
