Power Dynamos 0-1 Zanaco

Zanaco missed a penalty none of their players scored but they get three points off Power Dynamos after a Lawrence Chungu own goal.

It seemed like it was going to get gray for the defending champions when George Chilufya was sent off for a second bookable offence and but the own goal from Lawrence Chungu settled the nerves and once again it showed the tactical superiority that Numba Mumamba has and better off than most of the coaches in this league.

Power Dynamos dominated the second period and again they will rule the missed chances that mainly went N’gonga who is having challenges convincing the Power Dynamos faithful.

And despite a great start, for a long time the hosts gave Zanaco strong hope of at least earning an unprecedented win at Arthur Davies were the defending champions last picked a win in the year 2013.

A gloriously sunny day full of positivity was in stark contrast to the cold, miserable atmosphere that had clouded Arthur Davies after they lost 3-0 to Green Buffaloes and accompanying poisonous atmosphere that surrounded this stadium when Nkana came visiting and again collected the three points. It’s the third game in a row that Power Dynamos is handing over maximum points to the visitors.

But there was no sense of unrest early on here. The home side looked sharp and, having controlled possession and territory, looked like that gray patch that has covered Power Dynamos was coming to a close.

But the visitors, with Numba Mumamba looking to secure three points to keep the chase of Zesco alive, responded in style. And the chances kept on coming in a breathless first period but both teams looked up and ready for the game.

Zanaco were playing with the greater cohesion and also creating good chances. Augustine Mulenga was seeing plenty of the ball and finding space at will and went close with a rasping goal bound run which eventually led to a penalty that Felix Nyaenda had it saved by Allan Chibwe.

ZANACO maintain second slot with three games to play are only behind with two points but Zesco United could extend the lead back to five should they beat their local rival in Forest Rangers on a Sunday expected to have a different dimension on how the top four and the relegation battle stands.

Dan Kabwe:

“Our players could have turned off and that little time allowed Zanaco to score and we started chasing the game. It was a good game and we need to start winning because we still have to fight for top four.

And according to reports coming from Kitwe the Power Dynamos fans have asked the EXCO to let Dan Kabwe go with the understanding that he has failed the team. News from Arthur Davies Stadium suggests that Dan Kabwe was again escorted by heavy Police protection the second in successful games at Arthur Davies Stadium.

On the table implication, it’s becoming increasingly difficult to think Power Dynamos will break into the top four with this deep in form but for Zanaco, they will have special interest as Zesco United takes on Forest Rangers on  Sunday 19th November 2017.
