Kabwe Warriors came from a goal down to salvage a point against Zanaco in a rescheduled week one fixture of the FAZ MTN Super Division played at Godfrey Chitalu stadium on Wednesday 25 May 2016.
The result meant Warriors moved to eighth on the table with 14 points while Zanaco moved into second on 22 points.
Zanaco withstood a Warriors attack early on in the first 15 minutes of the game. But it was the visitors who nearly took the lead in the 20th minute, Augustine Mulenga’s shot cannoned off the crossbar.
Rodrick Kabwe opened the scoring for Zanaco in the 26th minute with a sweet free kick 35 yards from goal beating the wall and Warriors goalkeeper Lawrence Mulenga in the process.
Zanaco happy to go into half time with a 1 nil lead.
Warriors came fighting from the resumption of the second period and nearly leveled the scores. Josphat Kasusu rising above the Zanaco defence heading the ball against the crossbar.
The home side kept pushing and eventually got the equalizer in the 80th minute, the Zanaco defence exposed on a set piece. Martin Daka nodding the ball past Toaster Nsabata from a Godfrey Ngwenya cross.
Warriors were reduced to ten men 5 minutes from time. Solomon Sakala was shown a straight red card by the Referee Jani Sikazwe but the sending off had no bearing on the final result.
