BARCLAYS CUP QUARTER FINALS 2018
I will be giving you the history of the teams that are participating in this year’s competition.
Zanaco Vs Young Green Buffaloes

First ever meeting between these two sides and without a doubt the favourite is Zanaco who have to salvage something this season adyer a torrid season. They are the defending champions.
2007
Remember the first Edition of the Barclay’s Cup, Zanaco was knocked out by a division one team in Chambishi and Young Green Buffaloes will take a leaf from that.
2008
Zanaco made it to the quater finals after beating Zamtel in the pre quater finals but we’re knocked out by Lusaka Dynamos in the last eight.
2009
Zanaco participated in the 2009 edition and we’re again knocked out by Roan United in the quater finals .
2010
The Bankers played the final for the first time and were beaten by Zesco United .Alfred and Clifford scored for Zesco United in that final and the game ended 2-0.
2011
Zanaco failed to go past the quater finals as Nkana eliminated them via a 2-0 scoreline courtesy of Evans Kangwa
2012
This edition was interesting for Zanaco who played Lime Hotspur and regulation time ended 2-2. Zanaco won 7-8 on penalty shoot out but were knocked out in the semi final by Napsa Stars via a Harry Milanzi Goal
2010
Zanaco has always been in the Barclay’s Cup and in 2013 Nchanga Rangers knocked them out , 3-1 on penalties after a 1-1 draw.
2014
Was another disappointing quater final for Zanaco as they lost to a Masenekwa lone goal against Konkola Blades.
2015
Zanaco convincingly beat Lumwana Radiants 3-0 in the quarter finals but were knocked by Nkwazi in the semi finals via a penalty shoot out after a 1-1 draw.
2016
I stil think the best I have seen this Zanaco side was in 2016, they beat Kabwe Warriors 3-0 in the quarter finals before dispatching Nkana 4-0 in the semi finals but still couldn’t get the trophy and they lost 1-0 to Zesco United.
2017
Its the first time Zanaco bagged the Barclay’s Cup title and it started with a walk over after Power Dynamos withdrew from the tournament . Beat Lusaka Dynamos in the semi finals 1-0 via a Felix Nyaende goal. They were a goal down in the final against Napsa Stars and won the encounter 2-1 courtesy of Felix Nyaende and Isaac Chansa. That was it.
2018
They are here to defend the title and they start as favourites against a Young Green Buffaloes, struggling in Zone One and already handed the initiative to Circuit City who are topping that zone.
Zanaco is going through a season that they would want to forget as fast as possible and this is a real chance for them to close the season with something to look at and the Barclay’s Cup is one such thing.
My Prediction :
Zanaco will be too strong for Young Green Buffaloes and I think it will be an easy win for Numba Mumamba.
