The 2017 CAF Confederation Cup match entailing Zesco United and Al Hilal Obied can not go ahead after the suspension of Sudan in international football by FIFA on Thursday.
CAF Spokesman, Junior Binyam exclusively told soka25east.com that this match can not go ahead.
Binyam also said that match officials on the ground will anytime receive communication from CAF’s Competition division to abort the proceedings.
“They cannot play. Match officials on ground should receive anytime soon communication from competitions division,” he said.
A circular, signed by FIFA General Secretary Fatima Soumara has stated that Sudan has been suspended in international football.
This means that, the national team of Sudan and all clubs affiliated to the SFA will not participate in international matches.
The decision comes after failure of the Sudan Ministry of Youth and Sports backed group of Al Katim and FIFA recognised FA executive of Muttasim Gaafar to resolve their fiasco.
In an election deemed as null and void by FIFA, General Abdelrahman Al Katim ousted the incumbent Muttasim Gaafar.
However Gaafar could not accept the outcome, something that led to the Ministry of Sports and General Katim to forcefully throw him out of office.
