Coach George Lwandamina has blamed Zesco United’s 4-0 home loss to Zanaco on their post-title victory mood.
Zesco’s loss came just three days after they retained the FAZ Super League title with two games to spare following a 1-1 away draw at Forest Rangers.
Lwandamina admitted that his team went into the game against second placed Zanaco with a victory hangover still lingering in their heads.
Zesco conceded three goals within the opening 35 minutes of the first half on their way to suffering their worst league defeat of the 2015 season.
“It was definitely a very difficult game especially after playing Forest,” Lwandamina said.
“The Players knew that they have won the league. So coming into this game was very difficult.
“Psychologically, they were already celebrating and if you saw the approach in the first half, there was very little commitment. We conceded very silly goals each time and we were fast asleep.”
Zesco have an unassailable 64 points, four more than Zanaco heading into this weekend’s final round of league matches of 2015 season.
The five-time champions will wrap up their season with an away date against Lusaka Dynamos, a team they beat 4-0 in the first leg meeting on June 27 in Ndola.
