It looks like a long shot because it is a long shot. New Monze Swallows trail Kabwe Youth Soccer Academy by three points; Napsa Stars by five and worse off there is a difference of 20 points between Zesco United and New Monze Swallows. The Super League season is down to its ways of separating teams according to their status and New Monze Swallows is now up just looking for a first win. I do not think surviving is in their minds right now. Unless teams above Swallows are swallowed and go belly-up, New Monze Swallows will be playing in Zone Four next season.
However, as Kenneth Malitoli would say during match days on Supersport, it ain’t over until it’s over. Not to be confused with Kenneth Malitoli, who’s been in the game for long than most if the people , Its seriously not yet over . So New Monze Swallows will soldier on and try to add wins to the two draws that they have collected so far this season. What is also worrying for Swallows is the lack of goals in the team and the rate at which their defence concedes goals. They have only scored 4 ( the lowest in the league) and have conceded 21, only better than KYSA that have let in 23. Its not looking good.
Zesco United, meanwhile, are staggering to get to their best form after losing in Tunisia and away to Green Buffaloes on Sunday. They are a nervous five points below leaders Green Buffaloes and they are not used seeing a team above them. They have a very good opportunity to cut that difference to two and remember they have a game in hand against Kabwe Warriors after this encounter in Monze. Before Sunday defeat, Zesco United had the 100% away form.
The quality in this Zesco United team looks very far apart with that of New Monze Swallows and hence I won’t mince my words, ZESCO United is expected to win this one 9/10 with a draw and loss for Zesco standing at 1/10.
The only thing that could help New Monze Swallows is a team playing without nothing to lose because before this game is played , Zesco would have won the game on paper. Just like I think. The matter will be reducing a number of goals to keep that better goal difference alive in case of any miracle going forward.
