Zesco United beat Warriors to go top

A Lazarous Kambole strike in the 33rd minute was all Zesco United needed to beat a stubborn Kabwe Warriors 1-0 in a rescheduled week 30 MTN FAZ Super Division game played at Levy Mwanawasa Stadium in Ndola today.

The Ndola side shot to the top of the Zambia Super Division after the win with 62 points dislodging Zanaco into second with 60 points.

Meanwhile, Warriors remain in 15th position on 34 points and will need to pull a result against Zanaco in the next game at home in Kabwe.

Kapiri Mposhi based referee Michael Lialabi was again the center of attention as he angered fans of Kabwe Warriors for what they termed as bad officiating.

Kenya striker Jesse Were limped off injured in the game to be replaced by John Ching’andu second half.

Anthony Akumu Agay was also called upon in the first half to replace injured Kondwani Mtonga.

Zesco United had a scare in the late stages when Warriors winger Jonathan Manongo struck a ferocious shot from long range only for him to be denied by Upright with Jacob Banda completely beaten.

Next game for Warriors is Zanaco on Saturday 4 November 2017.
