Jesse Were’s strike was not enough as Zesco United are held to a 1-1 draw by Mufulira Wanderers in a rescheduled fixture of the MTN FAZ Premier League in Ndola.
Roderick Lyambe stunned the home crowd with an early goal in the 5th minute giving the visitors a shock lead.
Zesco toiled away trying to equaliser but Maybin Mwaba and Jackson Were blew their chances in a wasteful manner.
But the lanky Kenyan International found the net in the 44th minute to equalise.
There were protests from the Wanderers supporters with coach Paulo Silva sent off after an argument with the fourth official.
None of the teams could find the winner in the second half.
This was Zesco United’s second game in a space of 2 days as the defending Champions seek to recover from the disappointing 1-1 draw against Green Buffaloes.
The draw takes Zesco United to 33 points 7 behind title rivals Zanaco.
Lwandanina tinkered with his side following Anthony Agay’s red card against Buffaloes with hopes that his side can grab all three points to get closer to league leaders Zanaco but this is now another draw for Zega.
Zesco’s schedule is not really friendly as they await the visit of Asec Mimosas for their weekend’s clash in the CAF Champions League
Are Zega Mambo beginning to feel the effects of a hectic schedule?
