Kenyan striker Jesse Jackson Were and John Chingandu scored a goal each to lead Zesco United to a 2-1 win over relegation bound Mufulira Blackpool in a FAZ MTN Super Division game played at the John Yumba Kachofa Stadium in Mufulira this afternoon.
The home side took a shocking lead at half time through a Patrick Kongolo strike on 15 minutes but Were and John Chingandu replied to give Zega Mambo a routine win.
The Zesco striking force was guilty of missing chance after chance with Cletus Chama and Jesse both failing to hit the target in the first half.
An upset was on the cards for the struggling Blackpool team who have not yet won a single match this season as they went into the break leading the mighty Zesco by a goal to nil.
However, George Lwandamina’s side came back with more purposeful play in the second half and the introduction of Jackson Mwanza for Mwape Mwelwa livened things up for the champions.
Jesse Were brought the teams back on level terms with a beautiful individual solo effort in the 56th minute before John Chingandu wrapped up the win on 75 minutes.
For Blackpool, it is yet another defeat and its is looking more likely that they will be relegated.
