How did Zesco United fail to win a game at home. Drawing all the three home games, losing two away with one win is what has eliminated the Zambian champions.
Where did they miss it?
1. Delay to Bring George Lwandamina
If they wanted him most they could have bought off the remaining of his contract but that waiting for his contract to run out while Tenant Chembo was left in a situation of not knowing what was happenning is the main undoing.
2. Premature releasing of Justin Mumba
Let’s not even pretend, this is the biggest reason as to why Zesco United has failed to reach the promised land. I know you will tell me the man was not kicking the ball but it is from that decision that everything started breaking down. It’s also that decision that brought the coaches changes. All those decisions were delayed. At the end of the 2017 season after the chopper landed and Zesco United celebrated, I feel was the best time to let go of the Justin led team and allow the new team to start the new season.
3. Failure by Players to adjust
We all know they are professionals but that doesn’t take the human aspect out of the players. Those players had gotten used to Tenant Chembo and against all odds took them into the group stage. I didn’t even think he could do it myself. Then came George, and of course you didn’t expect everything to be the same. That adjustment was hard to take and I think even now, the struggle is real.
4. Poor Rotation of players.
George is a great coach but I think he still thought his old guards would do him the great works of the 2015-16 season. He has a big squad but the rotation for me was limited and when others were brought In they found the going tough.
okay let me conclude …… George was not brought for the league because according to the Executive of this great club, the league is no longer a success at Zesco United. Will they evaluate George on this front? If they do then they have lamentably failed.
