Zambia’s Zesco United suffered their second loss in Group C of the CAF Confederations Cup after losing 3-1 to Sudan’s Al-Hilal Omdurman at the Al Hilal Stadium on Sunday.
The home side started positively and opened the scoring ten minutes into the game when Mohamed Eldai found the back of the net with a clinical finish, 1-0.
Al-Hilal continued to dominate the flow of play, but only managed to double their lead in the 36th minute courtesy of a strike from Waleed Hamid, 2-0.
Zesco, though, quickly hit back and managed to pull a goal back a minute later when Lazarus Kambole scored after some good build-up play from the visitors as the half ended 2-1.
The second half started a little slowly, but Al-Hilal took control of the match with their third goal in the 66th minute after Abdellatif Boya found the back of the net, 3-1.
Zesco tried to find their way back into the game but were unable to do so as they suffered their second loss of the competition.
Al-Hilal top Group C with seven points from four matches, one point above Asante Kotoko in second while Zesco are bottom of the standings with four points.
Al-Hilal are in action again in the Confederations Cup next weekend away to Asante Kotoko on Sunday, March 10 while Zesco will play Nkana on the same day.
