By Bonface Osano,
Sony Sugar FC will today Saturday 23rd host Thika United at home in Awendo in a Kenya Premier League in a match both sides can’t afford to lose.
The two sides have registered dismal results in their last three fixtures, losing twice and drawing once each.
“Our performance has not been that adequate. We are aiming to win not only to clinch the points but to give our fans something to smile about after suffering in silence for quite some time,” Sony Coach Zico Otieno told Soka25east.com
Tim Bryett’s impressive start to the season that saw Thika go eight matches unbeaten ended a fortnight ago with a 2-3 loss to Sofapaka, before going down 1-2 against Ulinzi Stars last weekend, a run they want to reverse startingtoday against Sony.
Head to head
In the last six encounters between the two sides, Sony Sugar FC boasts of a slight advantage over their opponenents with two wins against Thika’s one win,the rest being draws. The biggest win being 3-0 to Sony in the second leg of the 2012 season.
Players to watch
Andrew Sekayombya and Samuel Onyango have so far scored two goals apiece for the millers with Marwa Chamberi netting once.
On the Thika United side, Raymond Omondi who has netted four times and boasts of the only hat trick of the season, Jackson Macharia who has scored three times and Wycliffe Opondo who has shaken the net twice will be the players to mark.
A win for Sony could propel them to eighth while a win for Thika could move them to third in the log.
Thika United will miss the services of the dedicated assistant physiotherapist Jackline Kalekye who is on a three weeks leave recovering from a minor surgery, as confirmed by Thika United’s head of physiotherapy Dr Nassib Tawa. Soka25east.com wishes her quick recovery.
Match to kick off at 3PM
