A unanimous decision by the Zimbabwe football Association decided to dissolve the current governing body ZIFA and replaced it with NFAZ(National Football Association of Zimbabwe)
The decision was made yesterday at the Associations EGM that was held at the crown Plaza with communication of that decision made to both FIFA and CAF.
The Associations president however still remains Philip Chiyangwa with the new association expected to start afresh with a better image and without carrying anymore debt.
The statement from the new Associations vice president Omega Sibanda read in parts
” The National Football Association would like to advise all football stakeholders that on
the 4th of June 2016 its stakeholders convened an inaugural Congress meeting at Crown
Plaza Hotel where the constitution governing the association was adopted and its
inaugural Executive Committee was elected. The new association, responsible for
governing association football in Zimbabwe, has already taken necessary legal steps in
terms of the laws of Zimbabwe to attain status as the exclusive association football
body in Zimbabwe”
Meanwhile, a life ban has been handed to former ZIFA CEO Henrietta Rushwaya and Jonathan Musavengana. They are believed to have been involved in match fixing in local football and at the matches involving Warriors at CHAN.
Also handed bans were Edzai Kasinauyo, Ian Gorowa and Nation Duke. Kasinauyo and Ian had ten year bans while Duke had five.
