Zimbabwe national team were dumped out of the 2018 Kenya CHAN tournament by Namibia via penalty shoot out. And coach Sunday Chidzambwa seems to be blaming the poor preparations for the loss.
A 38 minute goal by Prince Ncube was only enough for the homeside to send into the dreaded penalty shoot out.
Namibia converted all their five spot kicks but Zimbabwe had one miss. Goalkeeper Herbert Rusawo boldly took the honour to take the 4th penalty. But the casualness he discharged his kick was gracefully accepted by the Namibian goal minder. And it ended 5-4 in favour the visitors who progress to second and final round to secure it to Kenya early next year.
Namibia though they lost the encounter in regulation time, were a much more drilled side between the two and looked more like they needed the win more than Zimbabwe.
During the penalty shoot Namibia were even more clinical in the area too. They took their spot kicks with aplomb.
And losing side coach Chidzambwa, who was coming from a flawlews run at the just ended Cosafa tournament in South Africa had added sentiments to what led to the loss.
Chidzambwa is on record saying Zimbabwe only practised properly together on Friday leading to the Sunday match. The trailblazing Cosafa senior winning coach should just accept the loss and move on.
