The Warriors are set to play Uganda next month in an international friendly match while their women counterparts, the Mighty Warriors have already secured a warm-up game against New Zealand in their preparations for August’s Rio Olympic Games.
The men’s senior national team are bidding to qualify got the 2017 Africa Cup of Nations and are on course as they are three points ahead in Group L.
Swaziland and Guinea are tied on three points behind the Warriors, while Malawi anchor the standings and are already out of contention for a place at Gabon2017.
Zimbabwe host Malawi in their next match in June and before this match, they will host the Cranes of Uganda on 30 May in Harare in an international friendly match.
Zifa president Philip Chiyangwa also announced at a press conference on Friday that they have also sealed a friendly match for the Mighty Warriors against New Zealand in Brazil just before the start of the Rio Games.
The Mighty Warriors will be making their maiden appearance at the Olympic Games and have been pooled in Group F with to-time World champions Germany, Canada and Australia.
“We will play Uganda on 30 May. We really want our boys to be always prepared,” Chiyangwa said.
“Then our Mighty Warriors are going to play New Zealand in Brazil in one of their warm-up matches. They need thins before they enter into their Olympics competitions. So they are going to play New Zealand and we have already finalised this.”
The Mighty Warriors have also qualified for December’s Africa Women Nations Cup to be staged in Cameroon.
