Zesco United defender David “Calabar” Odhiambo will today (Saturday 4) play a Zambian Super League match away to Green Eagles before linking up with Kenya team to face Mauritius in the preliminary round of FIFA World 2018 qualifiers.
The highly rated stopper was named in the Harambee Stars’ 20 man squad to face the Islanders on Wednesday 7 – he is among the foreign based players who are expected to join the rest of the squad on Monday 5 in Mauritius. The locals who held their first training yesterday at Ruaraka Grounds depart Nairobi on Sunday.
A win for Zesco in Choma today will push them to within three points to back to back league crowns. Leading goal poacher Winston who has netted 15 times and Cletus Chama are expected to lead the goal hunt while Calabar is a sure start at the back.
He will however miss a midweek league decider against rivals and third placed Power Dynamos at home.
The match against Power will be played on Wednesday 7, the same day Odhiambo will be on national duty.
