Mufulira Wanderers fondly known as Mighty Mufulira Wanderers are reputable giants of football past in as far as the Zambian Premier League is concerned.
Going by the nickname ‘Abena Milambo’ Wanderers are one of the most successful clubs winning nine league titles and 41 cup competitions hence their tag of Legendary Cup fighters. Mighty play their home games in Mufulira town, Copperbelt Province. Their ground, Shinde Stadium has a capacity of 12,000 and their traditional kit is green and white.
Wanderers’ last League titles came in 1995 and 1996 thanks to a team built around players like Collins Mbulo, Allan Kamwanga, Bilton Musonda and Paul Chellah. Wanderers have produced some of the best talents Zambia has ever seen including the current Football Association of Zambia President Kalusha Bwalya, Charles Musonda the father to Chelsea starlet Charly Musonda Junior, and Samuel Zoom Njhovu.

Mighty spent close to 10 years in Division one after they were relegated in 2004 due to lack of funding from Mopani a company that had taken over Mufulira Mine. But after Mopani Copper Mines decided to invest in the club, the giant was awakened and the team bounced back to the Premier League in 2014. Their participation in the 2015 season was a resounding success for a team that was just returning to the elite league.
Premier league football returned to Shinde Stadium in 2015 for the first time since 2004.
Wanderers won 13 of their matches, losing 10 and drawing 6, scoring 30 goals even though they conceded 31 goals in the process. They collected a maximum 45 points and earned a fifth spot on the table, finishing 19 points behind eventual Champions Zesco United. Wanderers have a healthy squad that is capable of challenging for the top four positions.
Coach Manfred Chabinga went on a recruitment drive and acquired Joseph Sitali from Kitwe giants Power Dynamos, Ben Chengo from Kabwe Warriors, Austin Banda from Nchanga Rangers and Crispine Sakulanda from Ndola United. Led by their skipper Taonga Bwembya, Wanderers will be hoping to become regular contenders for the Premier League title which has eluded them for 20 years.
Fans will be trooping to Shinde stadium and accross the breadth of the country to watch Mighty Mufulira Wanderers in their famous green and white.
Their first assignment will be to tackle a very plucky Forest Rangers on 12 March 2016 at the Levy Mwanawasa stadium in Ndola.
