Supersport United have welcomed a Zambian National team defender into their ranks as they strengthened their squad for the 2018/19 season with Billy Mutale having arrived at the club.
Mutale will now ply his trade for Matsatsantsa A Pitori after they agreed an undisclosed transfer fee with the Zambian outfit,However he won’t be available against Kaizer Chiefs just yet as he is currently waiting for his work permit to come through.
Mutale a centre back who was playing for Power Dynamos in his home country impressed for Chipolopolo during their recent Cosafa cup in South Africa with Zimbabwe winning the tournament for the second year in a row.
The ex Nchanga Rangers and Kalulushi Modern Stars player joined Power Dynamos in 2014.
The 25 year old is said to have left Zambia for South Africa on Tuesday.Soka25east.com understand that he began training with the club a little later in the week.
Supersport United are known to be on the lookout for a new defender following the exit of Nigerian centre back Azubuike Egwuekwe ,especially given the age of their two main central defenders Morgan Gould and Clayton Daniels
Mutale an experienced Chipolopolo international faces competition for game time in Tshwane based outfit from the likes of Bongani Khumalo,Grant Kekana and Onismor Bhasera.
After his side beat Chippa United 2-1 in the league on Wednesday,Supersport United coach Keitano Thembo confirmed the Zambian arrival to reporters saying”He has arrived,he arrived yesterday (Tuesday) and he will be joining us.We will release that in a statement.
