Former Zamalek Ghanaian striker Benjamin Acheampong  has been sentenced to three years in prison for failing to pay his agent following his move to the Cairo giants.

The Ghanian forward joined Zamalek in July 2017, coming from fellow Egyptian Premier League side El-Dakhleya.

However, he failed to secure a place in the starting 11 and earned a six-month loan move to Petrojet, where he failed to score a single goal in 10 games across all competitions.

Following his spell with the petroleum side, he returned back to Zamalek where he lifted the Egyptian Cup and three months later he terminated his contract with the Whites by mutual consent. 

Overall, he scored just twice in six games with the Whites and he is currently plying his trade at Al-Shamal in the second tier in Qatar.

Nonetheless, the former Asante Kotoko man’s former lawyer Abdelrahman Mohamed El-Khabarawy filed a lawsuit against him for failing to pay the commission for his move to Zamalek.

Acheampong allegedly breached the contract between him and El-Kharabawy as he failed to pay EGP 400,000, which is the sum both parties had agreed upon prior to his transfer.

As a result, he was sentenced to three years in prison and has been forced to pay an EGP 400,000 fine after he failed to appear to any of his court hearings.
