Kumasi Asante Kotoko finally returned to winning ways in the GFA Normalization Committee (NC) Special Competition as they posted a 1-0 win over Techiman Eleven Wonders.
Prior to the match, the Porcupine had failed to win any of their last 3 matches, losing a total of 7 points in the process. Hosting Eleven Wonders at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium today however, the Reds ensured they ended that poor run as they picked up 3 important points.
A difficult first half for either side meant they went into the break with a goalless draw scoreline. Having improved their play in the second half, CK Akonnor’s men finally got the breakthrough courtesy a penalty scored by Abdul Ganiyu on the 76thminute.
The result means Kotoko maintains their 2nd position on the Premier A division of the ongoing Special Competition and in a good position to qualify to the knockout round.
Nonetheless, they are not totally safe and will need to keep their heads up going into the final 2 matches of the preliminary stage in order to ensure they cement their qualification.
