Legon Cities Football Club played out a barren stalemate with Ashanti Gold at the Accra Sports Stadium in the Match Day 4 of the 2019/2020 Ghana Premier League on Wednesday evening.
Heading into the game, Cities had gone three games without a win and were determined to right the wrongs and get a first against an Ashanti Gold side who have won all their opening three games.
But it was the visitors who started on an electrifying note with an intention of an early goal in the opening minutes but the Homers’ backline was as solid as they could.
The best chance of the evening came for Ash Gold via Mark Agyekum but his attempt was cleared off the line by Nicholas Mensah.
Cities had some possession but couldn’t make the best use of it.
The first half ended with Cities’ Moussa Mohammed going into the books of referee Joshua Samadzi for a late tackle on Karim Jabila.
The second period of the game started with a lot profligacy infront of goal, chief amongst them was Emmanuel Owusu’s effort that was blocked by Cities defender.
Both team pushed late on in search of a goal but couldn’t find it as they shared the spoils
Cities will head to Dormaa to play Aduana Stars who suffered their first loss of the campaign against Eleven Wonders at the Nana Agyemang Badu Park as Ashanti Gold welcome Berekum Chelsea to the Lenclay Stadium in Obuasi in Match Day 5 scheduled to come off January 17-20, 2020.
