Asante Kotoko couldn’t mark the new campaign with a win as they were held 1-1 by Techiman Eleven Wonders at the Accra Sports Stadium on Sunday night.
Felix Annan returned to goal after losing his place to Kwame Baah last term while Kwame Poku, Latif Anabila, Emmanuel Keyeke and Mubarik Yusif were handed their debut.
Kwame Poku scored for the Porcupine Warriors while Prince Okraku netted for Wonders.
The game started on a high tempo with Eleven Wonders dominating and creating golden opportunities but couldn’t find the net.
Kotoko looked slow, ordinary, disorganized and hardly threatened the goal area of Wonders.
The game couldn’t produce any goal as the first half ended barren.
Back from recess, the visitors continued their dominance but it was the homesters who broke the deadlock through Kwame Poku after he capitalized on a mistake in the 18-yard box.
Minutes later, goalie Felix Annan made a superb save to deny Wonders a leveller.
Prince Okraku netted on the 74 minute to put Wonders on level pegging.
Both teams chased for a winner in the dying embers of the game but couldn’t find as referee Julian Nunoo blew his whistle to end proceedings.
Asante Kotoko’s next match is away to Brong Ahafo to face Berekum Chelsea at the Golden City Park, while Eleven Wonders hosts Ebusua Dwarfs at the Nana Ameyaw Park.
Match Day 2 will take place from Friday, Nov 20 to 23.
