Guinea Bissau today proved their prowess as an emerging soccer nation when they beat 2012 African Cup of Nations winners Zambia 3-2 effectively eliminating them from the automatic qualification slot for Group E.
Guinea Bissau who beat Kenya both home and away and held The Chipolopolo in Lusaka before the famous win only need Kenya to help them finish the job by ensuring Congo fails to pick a point in Nairobi tomorrow
Congo are locked on six points with Zambia but can move to within a point of leaders Guinea Bissau if they beat hosts Harambee stars tommorow.
If Congo falls to Kenya then this will be the first time the tiny African nation will be gracing the biennial tournament.
For Zambia this could be a painful exit considering they have been featuring in almost all the Nations cup tournaments.
Zambia could still qualify as the best two runners up if they beat Kenya in Lusaka come September but again that will depend on tomorrow’s matches although cape Verde and Tunisia have already 9 points a peace in second place.
So far Egypt, Morocco Ghana, Algeria, Senegal, Cameroon and Host Gabon are through.
