Hearts of Oak roared from a goal down to beat Bechem United 3-2 in an exciting 2019/2020 Ghana Premier League match Day 10 game at the Accra Sports Stadium on Sunday afternoon.
Kofi Kordzi’s double and a goal from Fatawu handed the Phobians the victory.
Hearts of Oak signalled their intent in the game with 8 minutes on the clock as forward Daniel Afriyie slot the ball into the net but it was ruled out for offside.
Bechem United with little possession were awarded a penalty by referee Bernard Dumfeh after a player was tripped inside the box.
Youngster, Prince Kwabena Adu expertly converted the spot kick to put his team 1-0 up on 28 minute.
His 7th goal in the ongoing campaign.
4 minute later, the Homeside fetched the leveller also via the spot – Controversial – Kofi Kordzi.
Daniel Afriyie was booked for a rough play late on in the game.
Both teams held on to end the half one apiece.
After recess, captain, Fatawu Mohammed doubled the Phobians’ advantage with a scintillating finish. Benjamin Afutu missed a golden opportunity minutes later.
The Hunters didn’t relent as they pushed forward to snatch the equaliser. Eventually, it did came via Hafiz Konkoni, who finished off a good team move inside the box on 74 minute.
In the dying embers, Hearts of Oak knocked on the doors of Bechem United for a winner but finally got it from Kofi Kordzi. The bulky striker was adjuged the Nasco Man-Of-The-Match.
Next up for Hearts of Oak is a tricky tie against Karela United FC at the Akoon Community Park while Bechem United host Liberty Professionals at the Nana Gyeabour Park.
Both games to come off between Feb 18-20.
