Hearts of Oak came tops in a Match Day 7 of the 2019/2020 Ghana Premier League, beating Dreams FC 1-0 at the Theatre of Dreams in Dawu on Sunday afternoon.
Both teams went into the game following a 2-1 loss each by Asante Kotoko and Ebusua Dwarfs respectively and were looking to bounce back with a win.
The Homers got off proceedings with intent and purpose but it was the Visitors who carved out the first real opportunity of the game via Joseph Esso but his freekick came off the upright.
Dreams FC had spells of possession and created chances through Prince Okraku and Emmanuel Ocran.
In the latter stages, Joseph Esso unleased a powerful drive after a lovely work from the left but it was again denied by the crossbar.
No player went into referee Eso Doh Morrison’s book as the first department of the game ended with the score virgin.
Dreams FC began the second period as the first and almost opened the scoring via Ibrahim Issah but his strike hit the post.
Kofi Kordzi edge the Phobians 1-0 ahead ten later with a fine finish.
Dreams FC, after going down, knocked at the door of the Hearts of Oak severally for an equaliser but Edward Odoom’s men kept their cool to claim all three points.
Hearts of Oak have now amassed 10 points from three wins, three defeats and one draw.
The return Home to play Ashanti Gold at the Accra Sports Stadium while Dreams FC make a short trip to Dansoman to battle it out with Liberty Professionals. Both games on Wednesday.
