Dreams FC sealed their first home Ghana Premier League win of the season as Ibrahim Issah’s penalty helped Winfred Dormon side beat Medeama SC 2-1 on Sunday afternoon.
The fixture was played at the Theatre of Dreams in Dawu.
Dreams FC played out a 0-0 drawn game with Inter Allies at the Accra Sports Stadium while Medeama SC were held to a 1-1 draw at home to Great Olympics at the Akoon Community Park in Tarkwa in Match Week 1 of the 2020/21 Ghana Premier League.
Winfred Dormon kept the same side that played Inter Allies while Abdul Basit and Patrick Yeboah were handed their Medeama SC debut. It was a balanced game in the opening minutes with Dreams FC having the best of play.
Joseph Esso opened the scoring for the host with a beautiful strike from outside the box on 15th minute. On 29th minute, skipper Michael Agbekonu set Agyenim Boateng with a fine pass with the Ofori Antwi at his mercy but the striker was flagged offside.
The visitors saw a lot of ball since going down. Dream’s goalie, Solomon Agbasi made a terrific stop from a freekick to deny the visitors a leveller on the stroke of halftime.
Back from recess, Medeama SC continued their dominance but it was Dreams FC who were creating opportunities. Striker, Agyenim Boateng had two presentable chances but wasted them all.
Kwadwo Asamoah level matters for the visitors in the 72nd minute against his former team.
Dreams FC was awarded a penalty in the dying embers of the game after Joseph Esso was brought down in the box. Ibrahim Issah expertly converted the spot-kick to put his side 2-1 ahead.
Medeama SC left the Theatre of Dreams pointless to Tarkwa to prepare for their next clash against Legon Cities FC at the Accra Sports Stadium.
Dreams FC visit to Aiyinase to face Karela United FC at the Crosby Awuah Memorial Park.
Match Week 3 encounters will come off between November 27 to 30, 2020.
