Hearts of Oak battled back from a goal down to beat Liberty Professionals 2-1 at the Carl Reindorf Park in Dansoman in Match Day 5 of the 2019/2020 Ghana Premier League on Sunday afternoon.
Heading into the game, Liberty Professionals had won vs Dwarfs and were looking to make it two wins on the bounce against a Hearts of Oak side who have gained a bit of confidence after two positive results.
Liberty Professionals started proceedings on an electrifying note and scored under one minute via Michael Sefah.
Hearts of Oak stepped up their game thereafter and put the host under immense pressure but couldn’t find the back of the net.
The first stanza of the game finished with no player going into referee Kennedy Paddy’s book.
Back from recess, Hearts of Oak continued their dominance and fetched a deserved leveller through substitute Bernard Arthur on 87 minutes.
Kofi Kodzi made it two for his side two minute later.
Scientific Soccer lads pushed for an equaliser but the Phobians kept their composure at the back and snatch all three points.
With this win Hearts of Oak climbed to the top half of the table having drawn 1-1 with West Africa Football Club (WAFA) in midweek.
Liberty Professionals visit West Africa Football Academy (WAFA) while Hearts of Oak return Home to host Asante Kotoko at the Accra Sports Stadium. Both games are scheduled for January 24-27, 2020.
