Week One of the 2019/2020 Ghana Premier League provided a slate of thrilling action and the excitement wasn’t limited to the big clubs. Dreams FC picked victory number 1 while Bechem United and Berekum Chelsea saw promising start.
25 goals were produced across nine(9) league venues with 12 yellow cards and 1 red card dished out by the referees.
Asante Kotoko made an impressive start to their campaign with a 1-0 Home win against Techiman Eleven Wonders at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium in Kumasi. Justice Blay scored the only goal of the game for the Porcupine Warriors in the 2nd minute.
Bechem United registered their first victory of the new season after beating Ten-man Elmina Sharks 2-0 at the Golden City Park. The goals were scored by Kwadwo Asamoah and Prince Kwabena.
Yusif Mubarik, Amos Addai and Shafui Mumuni scored for Ashanti Gold as they saw off Great Olympics 3-0 at the Lenclay Stadium in Obuasi while Hearts of Oak loss 1-0 to Berekum Chelsea at the Accra Sports Stadium. Jonah Attuquaye got the goal for his side.
Yahaya Mohammed’s hattrick added to a goal from Justice Anane helped Aduana Stars thrashed Inter Allies 4-0 at the Nana Agyemang Nadu I Park in Dormaa.
Albert Gaisie’s goal couldn’t spur Ebusua Dwarfs on to stage a fight-back as they lost 1-3 against Medeama SC at the Cape Coast Sports Stadium in their league opener. Eben Ackhabi, Prince Opoku and Nana Kofi Babil with the goals for the Yellow and Mavres.
Liberty Professionals climbed from a 2-0 down to draw 2-2 with Legon Cities Football Club in a fascinating contest at the Carl Reindorf Park in Dansoman.
Saddick Sulley and Jeffery Degorl with the goals for the Royals whereas Elvis Kyei Baffour and Michael Ampadu also scored the goals for the Scientific Soccer lads.
Emmanuel Ocran bagged a brace, Issah Ibrahim and Amadu Dantani scored the other goals for Dreams FC as they hammered King Faisal 4-1 at The Theatre of Dreams in Dawu. Latif Mohammed got the consolation goal for the visitors.
