Hearts of Oak edged Danbort FC 2-0 to progress to the round 32 of the 2019/2020 MTN FA Cup, a game played at the Accra Sports Stadium on Sunday afternoon.
Goals from either half from Fred Ansah Botchway and Joseph Esso handed Phobians victory.
The two sides met in the quarter-finals in the 2017 edition, but it was the Phobians who came out tops, 1-0 it ended, courtesy Vincent Atinga’s 64th minute penalty.
It was a game dominated by the Phobians.
Fred Ansah Botchway puts visitors 1-0 up with low drive outside the box on 25 minute, assisted by Michelle Sarpong.
Five minutes later, Joseph Esso nearly increased his side’s tally but his well taken volley inside the box just went the post.
Danbort FC had little possession and also barely threatened the Phobians.
Hearts of Oak kept it cool, tightly to end the half at 1-0.
After the break, Hearts of Oak continued their resurgence and doubled their advantage in the 60th minute via Joseph Esso who pounced on goalie Richard Marfo miscued a back pass.
Danbort FC with made some attacking moves but was fruitless.
Edward Odoom’s charges held on to snatch win and march onto the round of 32 of the 2019/2020 MTN FA Cup.
