Hearts of Oak will aim to make it three wins on the spin as they host West African Football Academy (WAFA) in the Match Day 8 of the ongoing Normalisation Committee Special Competition at the Accra Sports Stadium on Sunday, May 5th, 2019 at 3:00Pm.
The Phobians have won back-to-back wins in their last two games vs Tema-based outfit Inter Allies. The Phobian have been impressive at Home in this competition, of three games, they have won all, scored five and conceded one. 1-0 vs Dreams FC, 2-1 vs Ebusua Dwarfs and 2-0 vs Inter Allies.
The Academy Boys, meanwhile, have not been good on their travels, out of three ties, they have drawn two and lost one, scored one and let in two. 1-1 vs Dreams FC, 0-0 vs Elmina Sharks and 1-0 vs Ebusua Dwarfs.
The first meeting between the two at the Sogakope RedBull Arena in April ended 3-2 in favour of WAFA.
Hearts of Oak and WAFA hold the 2nd and 1st spot respectively on the Premier League B pile with 15 points each. Joseph Esso is the homers’ top scorer with 3 goals whereas Haruna Jamal is the visitors’ top scorer with 2 goals.
A win for the Phobians will see them claim sole leadership on the summit of the ladder with 18 points if Karela United drop point at Home to Elmina Sharks. The last encounter between the two at the same venue was in the 2017/2018 Ghana Premier League, Hearts of Oak won 2-1.
Elsewhere, Dreams FC will welcome Liberty Professionals to the Theatre of Dreams in Dawu as Karela United go boot-to-boot with Elmina Sharks at the Crosby Awuah Memorial Park in Ayinase.
In other matchups, Ebusua Dwarfs will rub shoulders with Inter Allies at the Cape Coast Sports Stadium with Ashanti Gold engaging Berekum Chelsea at the Lenclay Stadium in Obuasi.
It will be a cagey battle when two regionals neighbours, Aduana Stars and Bechem United face off with each other at the Nana Agyemang Badu I Park in Dormaa while Medeama SC travel to Techiman to play Eleven Wonders at the Nkoranza Children’s Park.
Asante Kotoko vs Wa All Stars game at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium in Kumasi has been postponed.
