PLAYER rotation is always a heated debate in football circles, some coaches have gotten away with it while for others it has not paid the desired dividends.

The mention of the phrase “Player Rotation,” brings a number of world class managers come to mind, chief among them is the legendary Sir Alex Ferguson, Rafa Banitez, Louis van Gaal, and Claudio Ranieri.

In Zambia, Power Dynamos trainer Dan Kabwe is slowly testing the uncharted waters of player rotation, a situation that has been received with mixed feelings among Power fans and sympathizers.

In his first five games this season Kabwe has used an aggregate of 20 players in his starting line-up. These include two goal keepers, six defenders, eight midfielders and four strikers.

Of the 20, Billy Mutale is the only defender to have started all five games, while former Kabwe Warriors playmaker Godfrey Ngwenya, Chipolopolo international Fwayo Tembo and Kelvin Mubanga are the only midfielders.

Lawrence Chungu and former Mufulira Wanders defender Allan Kamwanga rank second after making it four times in the starting eleven.

Ivorian striker Kam Ferdinand has made it twice in the starting eleven while Jimmy Ndhlovu, Luka Lungu and Lyson Sikaonga have only started once this season.

In an environment where soccer fans are used to seeing predictable line up week in week out, Kabwe’s rotation policy has been frowned upon.

Statistics show that Kabwe may just have the last laugh, Power is among the only two teams yet to taste defeat this season the other side being Lumwana Radiants.

Despite being ranked 9th in the league, the Ndeke side are the country’s third best scorers with eight goals, six behind champions Zanaco.

Kabwe will however have to work on his defense that have let in seven goals and only managing one clean sheet to their name so far.

It is still early days, the title and continental positions are still there for that taking, all Power Dynamos have to do is find the right balance especially at the back.

Consecutive wins starting with the away game to Red Arrows at the weekend will do well for their confidence and trigger the club’s ascendance on the log.

With a shrewd tactician and proven winner at the helm, it will not be a safe bet to rule  Power out of the league title push  or a continental place finish.
