Week Six FAZ MTN Super League – My View and insight

Zesco United Vs Green Buffaloes
Levy Mwanawasa Stadium
15:00hrs

How does Zesco United respond from its first loss of the season? They are at home to a GBFC team bubbling with confidence after beating Nkana 3-2 in week five. Zesco has been poor in the last two games and that needs to be worked upon the soonest before they lose touch with their objectives for the season. They are third from Zanaco and Lumwana respectively but have a chance to go top before the top two play their games on Saturday and Wednesday next.

Green Buffaloes on the other hand don’t look comfortable this season and are not as strong as the team that lined up with Christopher Katongo last season who has since joined the technical team. They look less convincing and this game will test their mantle in this years’ Super league chase.

This is one of the favourite fixture of Zesco United through the years and having won 10 out of the last 22 and drawn 9 with only 3 loses they will think it’s time to get back to winning ways after failing to win in the last two encounters.

Green Buffaloes have already lost two games to Konkola Blades and Nakambala , they got a draw away to Nchanga Rangers and got that big win against Nkana in week five. Those were good goals especially the Brian Mwila volley who made Malunga look like he didn’t know what he was doing.

But this is Zesco team which is very good at defending but allowing three goals in two games is not good enough for a team that has been resolute in the league at the back.

Prior to their 2-2 draw with Nkana , Zesco Unites had only allowed two goals in their last 10 games in the super league and that tells you something its not working with the Zesco defence which needs urgent attenation. The two goals were in the 4-1 win over Nchanga and a 2-1 victory against Lusaka Tigers on 16th November 2016.

But that’s different with Green Buffaloes who rarely keeps a clean sheet in a game and already this season in the five games played they have only managed to keep one clean sheet against Mufulira Wanderers in the first game of the season.

There is more of a home win in this encounter and I think Zlat wouldn’t want to get into CAF with a loss. They look a more strong team than GBFC and they will win this one.

My Verdict: Zesco United 3-1 Green Buffaloes
