MIKE KATIBA GETS HIS FIRST GOAL FOR GREEN BUFFALOES
He is off the mark and the road to greatness is on ! That’s the wish of every player …to score and Mike Katiba has already done that in a game against NAPSA were he equalised to get a draw for his team on the last day of the four clubs tournament that has been taking place at Heroes Stadium at the invitation of Lusaka Dynamos. Mike was a starter in the games and just showed why GBFC sought his services from Mufulira Wanderers. He adds another dimension to the Bilton Musonda tutored side and he will surely be an asset in this team.
Mike formally of Kalulushi Modern Stars was signed by Mufulira Wanderers after a loan spell came to an end with Modern Stars. He was one of the integral part of the Mighty team that finished the 2015 season fifth after bouncing back to the super league that season. Mike alongside Jacob Ngulube, Taonga Iniesta Bwembya and Allan Alan Kamwanga Junior were on the pick of their playing at Wanderers and at the end of that season the players were on the wanted list of most of the teams including Nkana who quoted Mike Katiba as having signed for them.
Mike chose to stay at Mufulira Wanderers and signed for the team bringing joy among Mufulira Wanderers followers who badly wanted the player to stay on. But they lost Jacob Ngulube to Nkana.
Mike had an average season in 2016 scoring one goal but crested a number of assists for the team and towards the end of the season he was made captain for the team and was one of the players that team manager Patrick Mwanza wanted to keep according to the interview I had with the team manager at the end of the 2016 season.
But came Green Buffaloes knocking and he couldn’t resist that temptation…..
He will be Ine of the players that will be keenly followed this season and it wouldn’t be a surprise if he is to get a call up to the national team. He is pace and power in his game and could prove a vital buy for his new club.
